Today is the 26th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. The Chernobyl plant blew on April 26th 1986, causing a radioactive cloud to spread over much of Europe. This disaster caused many workers and civilians to lose their lives.
The workers lived in the nearby town of Pripyat. The funfair seen above was set to open on May 1st. No one ever got the chance to ride this ferris wheel. The amounts of radiation still make it dangerous even today.
